Who Do You Think of When You See This Logo

When you see the Dodgers logo, who is the first player that springs into your mind?  The Dodgers have been in LA almost as long as they were in Brooklyn. Actually, just a year shy of being in LA 67 years like they were in Brooklyn. There have been so many excellent and some very good players on both ends of the US. Brooklyn has several Hall of Famers who only played in Brooklyn. LA does not have that many who did not at least spend some time in Brooklyn. Drysdale and Koufax spent the bulk of their careers in LA as did Don Sutton. Mike Piazza started his HOF career with the Dodgers but went in with a Mets cap. Walter Alston spent 19 of his 23 years as manager in LA. Lasorda spent all of his managerial career with the Dodgers.

Beltre is another HOF player who started with LA and went in with a different logo on his cap. Jamie Jarrin spent his entire HOF broadcasting career in LA. Vinny spent 59 of his 67 years at the mic in LA. The home-grown kids have always been favorites, Willie D, Tommy Davis, Jim Lefebvre, Sax, et al. The first player who comes to mind for me is Koufax. I saw him pitch so many times and he was just so dominant. Big D was right there with him. On any given day you could see something special.

For this generation I am pretty sure it would be Kershaw. Fernando would be a favorite for the 80’s crowd. My favorite all time player was Duke Snider. Just thought he was so graceful out there in CF. I mimicked his stance when I was a kid. But you can go down the list for each decade since they came here. Hondo, Wills, Gilliam, Garvey, Cey, Lopes, Smith, Monday, the list is endless.

Even though he spent just 3 years as a Dodger, I have heard some fans say their all-time favorite is Kirk Gibson. I always liked Gibby, I just could not forgive him for going to Arizona to be their manager. Anyway, since there was not a game last night for the Dodgers, you can use this post to express your thoughts, rants, raves, and who you think of first. Oh, LA did pick up a half game on Arizona, who lost to the Giants.  Arizona is now () this much in front of Atlanta for the last wild card. Mets are ahead of them. Phillies won too.

For me it is Vin .

He resembles Koufax, Fenando, Orel, Gibson, Kershaw , Ohtani and all the other great Dodgers in his voice and person.
Though Joe Davis and Steve Nelson have done a great job of calling those memorable Ohtani moments this season I wish Vin would have called them.

Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Koufax is the GOAT. Probably started an argument there. My earliest memories were of Willie Davis, Gilliam, Wills they were fun to watch. Then, the infield of Garvey, Lopes, Russel, Cey, Yeager winning the WS in 1981 I believe. The no name team of 88 with an unbeatable Hershiser. One of my favorite players didn’t start as a Dodger Reggie Smith. I wish I could have seen the Duke and others. The Dodgers uniforms are classic. When McCourt took over I was afraid the Dodgers would never be good again. Happy to say this is arguably the greatest time in history to be a Dodger fan!!

When I see the Dodgers logo, it makes me think and remember Fernando, Pedro Guerrero, the penguin Cey, Garvey, Yeager, and I don’t know why, but I remember Ken Landreux & Brent Butler.

The player that drew me to The Dodgers was Steve Garvey.

Garvey, Lopes, Russell, Cey infield and I loved them.

Phil Jones

My vote is for Vin. I think of him every time I watch an opponents TV broadcast because I refuse to watch Jess Mendoza, Eric Karros, and Dontrell Willis. And Jerry Harrison adds nothing to a broadcast.
Even when Orel is talking incessantly. Not a big fan of Stephen WTF’s his name either as he tries too hard to set up his partners with stupid baseball question.
I think of how enjoyable and pleasant it was listening to Vin call a game all by himself with his great stories and memories.
We all had it so good for so long.

Jackie Robinson.

Bumsrap

I’m pulling for AZ to get into the playoffs.

I keep reading in the news that today the battle for the division leader between LA and SD begins… What stupidity!
The real fight will be between Mets and Braves.

And speaking of good memories when seeing the blue logo… Tom Niedenfuer.

Just kidding!! 😅

I associate waking up to hearing the Gillette Blue Blade song telling me the World Series was about to begin with the Dodgers.

That goes back to 1955

Looking at the favorite Dodgers we have been mentioning, it seems they have a certain grace and humility about them along with skill.

Bobby

Right now, at this moment, when I see “Dodgers” I think of Landon Knack.

Time to step up my man!

Fred Vogel

I think of trolleys.

Old Bear 48

The Dodgers have hit 7 homers off of King in his career. Ohtani 3, Betts 2, Teo and Max, 1 each. Let’s have some more of the same tonight. None of the Padres have ever seen Knack. Advantage LA.

Singing the Blue

The Dodgers are calling up Henriquez. No word yet on the move to make room for him.

Not resigning Beltre and trading Piazza and Pedro are the biggest blunders in Dodger history.

Old Bear 48

Guys, Jeff and I need you to do us a favor. Let’s leave any discussion about LADT off of the site. Let us stick to Dodger baseball. I know for a fact that Mark comes over and reads what is posted although he does not post himself. So, let’s talk Dodger baseball and leave everyone else’s personality’s off here. What happens or is discussed over there is not relevant here. I know Jeff would appreciate that.

Eric

The first person that comes to mind when I see that logo is Vin followed by the Dodgers players and also Lasorda from the 80’s when I grew up.

With the Phillies loss tonight, LA is percentage points ahead of Philly for the #1 seed in the NL. If the season ended today, LA would play the winner of the Brewers-Arizona series. Phillies would meet the winner of the Padres-Mets. Braves are .5 games back of Az, whose game with the Giants is just starting.

Rodgerdodger

I see Roberts is in mid playoff form. Are you flipping kidding me man?

Old Bear 48

Not sure I would use Knack against the better teams unless he was an opener.

Well it looks like we are in playoff form. No pitching no hitting. At least I can go to bed early. The pads did everything they could to try to give it to us in the first. Freddie freeman has got to be the most overrated player in the league. U get the feeling that if Ohtani doesn’t do something we are dead in the water. Early in the season we were begging for 5 innings out of our starter now we are begging for 4. The chess players have started a new strategy with a bullpen game every night.

Bluto

Maybe he who should not be named is right.

there are some moronic posts here.

Bluto

Can anyone explain why they didn’t keep Rojas bunting?

OhioDodger

Oy Vey.

Rodgerdodger

OK Dave are we bunting or not bunting? How did your double steal work out for you in the first?

3-10 in the last 13 playoff games. This was as close to 14 as it gets. The record really is starting to speak for itself. Late season big games are L’s. That’s a fact.
